Inspirations #2 Emma Magenta




It has been a while since I have heard anything about Emma Magenta, also a fellow Aussie Illustrator. Her character Magenta is a bitter sweet parallel with my life. Her journey of heartache and isolation from friends, love and just life is complex and obscure - just like real life. Every girl can relate to her journeys and the representation of feelings are just so quirky and whimsical! Shes managed to interpret deep and painful emotions into strange signs and symbols. I wonder if I am able to find joyous path again and feel that there is hope. X

There are two Australian illustrators/artists/designers that have a distinct and recognisable style which has inspired me for years. One is Kat Macleod - I fell in love with their raw illustration collage style in The Cocktail book, Like a Give a Frock and even packaging design for Bloom.
She also has her own studio Ortolan
